Who we are?

Based in Liepaja, Latvia, NorSAF is developing a groundbreaking project that combines green hydrogen, bioethanol, and captured biogenic CO₂ to produce Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and Synthetic SAF (eSAF).

Utilizing innovative technology and strategically located at the Liepaja Port, NorSAF is set to become the largest SAF and synthetic SAF producer in the Baltics by 2030.

Our mission

Our combination of regulatory momentum, technological innovation, and strategic location forms the foundation of NorSAF’s success.

As the largest SAF production initiative in the Baltics, our facility is on track to launch operations in 2030, helping to drive the decarbonization of aviation across the European Union, with SAF usage mandated to reach 6% across the region.

Part of Avia Solutions Group

NorSAF is part of Avia Solutions Group, the world’s largest ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) provider, which operates a fleet of 221 aircraft across 6 continents. Supported by 14,500 professionals, the group is the parent company to over 250+ subsidiaries including Avion Express, SmartLynx Airlines, BBN Indonesia Airlines, and KlasJet. The group also provides a range of aviation services including MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul), pilot and crew training, as well as a variety of associated aviation services.

Energy, Security & Innovation

By developing progressive SAF and biogenic CO₂ technologies, we are enhancing regional energy security, creating high-skilled jobs, and positioning Latvia as a key exporter of green fuels to Europe and beyond. With a strong industrial base in Liepaja and strategic port access, NorSAF is helping to build a resilient, future-proof economy rooted in clean energy leadership.

By producing SAF and synthetic fuels from non-fossil feedstocks including green hydrogen, bioethanol, and captured biogenic CO₂ , we are reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels and fostering a cleaner, more secure energy system. This approach not only aligns with the EU’s ReFuelEU Aviation Initiative but sets a new standard in clean energy innovation.
